Honors
Few, if any regiments of the United States Army can boast of a record of achievement as outstanding as that of the 16th Infantry Regiment. Its record is well told in the History section of the website. Of course a regiment is made up of men and it is they who make possible that record. The courage, bravery, and gallantry of the Regiment’s Soldiers are attested to by the 11 Medals of Honor, 200 Disntinguished Service Crosses and thousands of Silver Stars awarded to members of the regiment since 1861. This section is dedicated to our Soldiers and the members of the Association who have not only served their country well, but have given more of themselves than was expected to serve their country and further the goals and objectives of their Regiment. Over 3,800 of them gave their lives towards that end and to those especially, we dedicate this section.
